Could the VFW be your next chapter?

VFW membership is for people who served honorably or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and meet qualifying overseas service requirements. Qualifying service can include an authorized campaign or expeditionary award, Hostile Fire or Imminent Danger Pay, or service in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days. Serving during wartime alone does not establish eligibility. Review the official guidance with the Post to confirm your eligibility.

Common membership questions

Does this inquiry make me a VFW member?

No. It requests a conversation with the Post. Official membership and transfers follow the VFW process and must be confirmed separately.

Does a website account mean my membership is approved?

No. Website registration identifies your account. Member portal access requires a separate review by authorized Post officers and does not itself approve official VFW membership.

What if I am unsure whether I qualify?

Review the official eligibility guidance, then ask the Post or the national VFW Member Service Center for help. Do not submit service records through this form.

What are the dues and membership options?

The national VFW offers annual and life membership options. Confirm current dues and Post 12239 affiliation directly before paying. This website does not collect membership payments.

How do I transfer from another Post?

Choose “Transferring” when contacting the Post. Ask how to transfer your existing membership before submitting a new application.

Can family members take part?

Family members can review the VFW Auxiliary’s national eligibility guidance. A local Post 12239 Auxiliary has not been confirmed.
