July 4, 2026: VFW 12239 Marches with Jasper

American flags, familiar faces, and a shared love of country brought Jasper together for its annual Fourth of July parade. Members of SGT David S. Collins VFW Post 12239 joined the celebration, representing local veterans and the Post’s continuing commitment to Jasper and Pickens County.

The Jasper Lions Club’s 2026 Independence Day celebration marked America’s 250th anniversary. Its July 4 parade began at 10 a.m. along Main Street, bringing the community together in the heart of downtown Jasper.

For Post 12239, participation was an opportunity to honor military service and share in a hometown tradition. The photographs supplied by the Post show flags carried along the parade route and members gathered with the VFW flag—a visible reminder that service and fellowship continue beyond the uniform.

Eight Post members contributed five hours each, totaling 40 volunteer hours. Their participation put the Post’s commitment into action: showing up, representing veterans, and strengthening the connection between those who served and the neighbors they call home.

Flags given away, banners, and candy added to the day’s celebration, supported by $160 in contributed event expenses.

We thank the members who gave their time and everyone who helped make Jasper’s Independence Day celebration possible. Post 12239 is proud to stand with this community as we honor our nation’s history and continue serving its future.
