Connecting with Our Community: VFW Post 12239 at Jasper Downtown Live

Service begins with showing up—and on June 13, 2026, members of SGT David S. Collins VFW Post 12239 showed up in downtown Jasper to meet neighbors, welcome veterans, and share the VFW’s mission at Jasper Downtown Live.

Part of Jasper’s downtown live music series, the event offered an opportunity to enjoy community fellowship and build connections. Our Post set up a community booth where visitors could stop by, ask questions, and learn more about the VFW’s work in Jasper.

Welcoming veterans and sharing our mission

Throughout the event, members spoke with local residents about the Post and its commitment to veterans and the community. We also connected with veterans who had not known about our Post, providing membership information and guidance to help them take the next step toward getting involved.

Those conversations are an important part of our outreach. A booth at a community event gives veterans a place to find a local connection and helps our neighbors get to know the people behind the VFW mission.

Leading a shared moment of patriotism

Post 12239 members also led the entire crowd in a salute to the American flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. It was an opportunity to honor our nation together and bring the Post’s commitment to service and patriotism into the heart of the celebration.

Nine members participated, contributing an average of four hours each for a total of 36 volunteer hours. Their time supported community outreach, veteran connections, and the Post’s presence at this downtown event.

Thank you to our participating members, everyone who stopped by the booth, and the organizers who brought the community together. Post 12239 is proud to be part of Jasper and to continue serving alongside our neighbors.
