On Saturday, September 19, VFW Post 12239 spent the day in downtown Jasper, staffing one community outreach tent across Rally Around the Town and Jasper Downtown Live. Six members contributed eight hours each, for a combined 48 volunteer-hours across the two events.
Rally Around the Town brought neighbors together at Hensley Plaza in support of Pickens County Veterans Hall. Its program included college football, cornhole, food and fellowship, with proceeds designated for the Hall.
Later in the day, Jasper Downtown Live brought vendors, food, family activities and live music to Main Street. Our outreach tent gave the Post a place to connect with the community through both gatherings.
Thank you to the members who gave their time, the organizers who brought everyone together, and our neighbors who support local veterans. We're glad to be part of Jasper.
